ATTY. & MRS. RAYMOND J.A. MERCADO, Dumaguete City
Over twenty (20) years ago, we became members of DCCCO and started out with monthly savings and a few thousands of loans if only to augment our little business of selling newspapers and magazines, the dealership of which started in 1984.
We started our joint venture into business a few years before we tied the knot in June of 1986. At first we assisted the parents of my wife in selling their wares in the public market of Dumaguete City. Later tragedy struck as a devastating fire hit the public market. On a account thereof, the business continued but on the sidewalk outside the charred public market.
Not losing hope, we went on helping out to the extent of selling plastic bags in the wet areas of the public market early in the morning and thereafter attend school. This went on, until we finished our bachelor’s degree in business at Silliman University in 1984. It was also in 1984 that we had our God-given break as the dealership in newspaper and magazine was offered to us. Considering that we lacked the necessary capitalization, DCCCO was there to fill in the gap. In the meantime a pursuit in law was embarked.
Thus, slowly but steadily the business grew in collaboration with DCCCO who was always there at times when incremental capitalization was needed.
In 1998, there was another great opportunity to expand and diversify the business as a prime real estate was available for sale just at the doorsteps of Silliman University. Thus, losing no time with some savings and the necessary financing scheme provided for by DCCCO, the lot purchased and what came out were a dormitory and a commercial space for lease on the ground floor.
In 2004, another real estate opportunity behold upon us as a corner property just a stone throw away from St Paul University was up for sale. Realizing that it is a great business gem, we then mustered all resources available to grab and buy the lot. As luck would have it, the owners agreed on a deferred payment.
Exactly two (2) years after, we decided to build a commercial building on the corner lot and again with a huge amount involved and needed, DCCCO was more than willing to finance the project without the hassles. The rest is history, we now have the RM Building and on it are commercial spaces leased by diverse entrepreneurs together with the family owned Grand Royal Spa, RM Guest House, RM Convenience Store and Galing Kafe’ Coffe Stop and of course the Mercado & Partners Law Firm. We are giving employment to more or less 20 persons in all these business endeavors.
If not for DCCCO, these God-given blessings would have remained a dream.

EDUARDO B. SINDIONG, Dumaguete City
DCCCO has been my financial partner ever since I become a member on June 01, 1969. But the highlight was in 1977, when I ventured into my own printing press. Even though I tried to manage with utmost care the cash flow of my business, there were really times of unforeseen need for a bigger amount of cash. Like before, I have always DCCCO to run to for help. Yes, the help came so timely and fast. I was able to purchase new, better and efficient machines to keep pace with the fast-growing technology in the printing industry because of the immediate assistance.
DCCCO’s system of fast and easy loan approval, enables my business, the Dgte. Asian Printers to acquire more state-of-the-art machines. Backed up with hardwork, compassion and faith in God, we are able to deliver quality, fast and honest service to our clients, the trademark of the Dgte. Asian Printers. The business has managed to gain high regard and has carved a niche in the community. Moreover as the business grows, the number of employees also increases. Our services expanded and we are able to serve more patrons. In the process, we have contributed to their own success.
In July 2006 I secured a loan from our DCCCO, the purpose of which was to finance construction of the huge image of our Lady of Fatima in Inalad, Siaton, Negros Oriental. The loan contributed almost 50% of the total cost of the 15 feet image of the Virgin and the 15 by 3 feet solid concrete pedestal. Now, the site where the image is standing is slowly becoming a destination of devotees from our diocese and its neighbors.
I therefore would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our coop, the Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative for the many instances of financial assistance extended to my family, my business and even in our spiritual life. I know I will be able to face the present global financial crisis for I have my DCCCO to fall back on. Once again, thank you and more power; keep on being strong and take good care of our members specially the weak.

ANECITO J. CASINTO, Siaton, Negros Oriental
